She said: "The fourth Slot is architecturally distinct from the first three. The first three Slots sealed individual abilities: a technique, a mapping function, a natural-material capacity. Not because you did something wrong — you told me before you left, you sent the honest letter, you did what you said you would do. The anger is not about your conduct. The anger is about the situation, which I am aware is different from being angry about your conduct.* She said: *I am telling you this because you require my honest version and here it is.*
She said: *I have been thinking about what you said in the east yard: "both things are real." I have been thinking about this for two days. I have decided that I believe you, which makes the situation more complicated rather than less. A managed version would be easier to be angry at cleanly. The honest version is the honest version.*
She said: *What I want is the in-person version of this conversation. Not because I cannot have it in writing — we have been having conversations in writing for five years that were more honest than most people's in-person conversations. But this specific conversation — I want to have it with you in the same room, where I can read the ambient and you can read mine, and we can say the difficult things without the letter-medium making them more abstract than they need to be.*
She said: *I am going to visit Argent Vale in November.
